Leith Labs explores... Plastics, coasts and waters!

  • Ocean Terminal Ocean Dr Edinburgh - EH6 6JJ Scotland (map)

In line with Ocean Terminal’s Sustainability Month, Leith Labs will be delivering activities related to plastic pollution and marine diversity on the Ground Floor (Central Entrance) of Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre.

Specific times to be confirmed.

In this event, we’ll look for the answers of these questions:

  1. What is plastic made of?

  2. Is it possible to take seawater and somehow convert it to drinkable water?

Plastics & Coasts | A problem for all

Last year 2018 was a big year to raise awareness of the problem of plastic pollution. Documentaries such as Blue Planet 2 (with David Attenborough and an incredible production team) made us reflex on the amazing quantities of plastics we use and on the impact they have, not only on marine life, but also on off-shore ecosystems and on our health.

The ban on plastic straws and cotton buds is just a first step towards a future with a sustainable use of plastics. Come along and have a thought on the future of our coasts and waters!
